A local councillor has called for a yellow box to ease traffic congestion at the Letterkenny hospital roundabout.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle brought forward a motion to the Letterkenny-Milford MD this week seeking a yellow box at the Circular Road Junction.
Cllr McMonagle said that a yellow box would encourage proper use of the roundabout.
“There are times of the day, and it’s becoming more common, that there is a massive build-up of traffic from people coming up from the High Road and De Valera Road,” he said.
“It’s not unusual to see traffic backed all the way up to Glencar Park.”
Cllr McMonagle said there is a particular problem when emergency vehicles need to get by.
He welcomed the answer from the council at Tuesday’s meeting, which said: “after resurfacing works have been completed on the High Road at the end of September the renewal of the road markings will be applied. This section can be added on to this project.”
