Harps suffer defeat again as Cobh dominate second half

Finn Harps suffered a heavy defeat in Cobh, where the final score was 5-1.

Harps took an early lead when Patrick Ferry finished off a rapid counter attack in the 11th minute.

Despite a lot of pressure from the home side they kept that lead until just before half- time when Mikie Rowe equalised to leave it 1-1 at the break , probably a fair reflection of the first-half.

However all that changed in the opening quarter of the second-half.

Cobh were awarded a penalty for what the referee deemed to be a deliberate handball by a Harps defender, it looked a bit harsh but Jack Doherty hammered home the spot-kick, 2-1 to Cobh.

After that things went from bad to worse for the Harps . Sean O Donnell received a straight red scared when his high boot made contact with Cian Browne in the 60th minute.

Four minutes later it was 3-1 to the home side as Matt McDevitt produced a super finish from just inside the box. That became 4-1 in the 71st when Eguaibor and Doherty combined to set up Rowe who curled the ball into the bottom corner.

A fifth goal arrived four minutes later when Browne set-up Doherty to drill the ball past Tuta as the home team dominated the game.

Harps were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute but keeper Steacy denied Tony McNamee. That ended the scoring opportunities and it finished 5-1 to the home team.
