The mother of missing man Cian Langelaan has called on the public to continue sharing posters to ensure that loved ones are not forgotten.

Today marks the three-year anniversary of the last known sighting of Cian Langelaan. The then 27-year-old was last seen on Sunday, September 27th, 2020 in the Hornhead area of Donegal.

Despite an extensive land and sea search and some suspected sightings, Cian, who was staying in Falcarragh at the time, has not been found.

Friends of the missing man set up a Facebook page called ‘Find Cian’ which people are encouraged to go on and report any sightings of him.

Anthea shared her heartache and hope with the community today, writing: “Three whole years today, not knowing what has happened to you Cian, not knowing even if you are still alive. I share this heartbreaking loss with thousands of others – what a shocking truth!”

Anthea, who lives on the Isle of Wight, said she thinks of her darling son daily. She shared her solidarity with the families of other young men who disappeared in recent years: Owen Harding in England in March 2020, Brian Kinsella in Waterford in November 2021, and Damien Nettles, aged 16, who went missing on the Isle of Wight in 1966.

“Remembering Owen, Brian and Damien as well as Cian keeps my mind focussed on the reality of missing persons and the effect their disappearance has on their loved ones – it keeps it REAL. It’s not just happening to ME,” Anthea said.

Anthea wrote that her experience has made her all too aware of the frequency of missing person appeals.

Her plea to the public said: “Please keep sharing the Missing Persons posters – keep our loved ones alive in people’s minds and contribute to the HOPE (albeit a glimmer) that lies in the hearts of their loved ones.

“Life is just too precious not to make the best of and that is what I try to do every day. But behind my smile always lives the heartache – some days just a dull pain, but occasionally, out of the blue, searing grief almost impossible to bear. You are never forgotten Cian and will always be loved.”

Anyone who may have seen Cian or has information about his disappearance is urged to come forward.

Cian is described as being 5 ft 8 inches tall, of medium build, with sandy coloured hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and black boots.

Milford Gardaí can be contacted on 074-9153060, or individuals can call the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 with any information that might assist with the investigation.
