A charity climb organised in honour of the late Liam “Gutcha” Haughey has reached the top of Errigal today, all to raise money for the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team and Sheephaven SAC.

A large group of climbers collected at the base of Errigal at 10am this morning, and were treated to some glorious conditions on the way up to the summit.

The climb and fundraiser, organised by Lee Haughey, has reached over €11,000 in donations, with many locals and organisations coming together to raise money for the two good causes.

On their GoFundMe page, Lee Haughey says that he and his family were “…extremely grateful to DMRT and Sheephaven SAC for the compassion and professionalism shown as they assisted in the search and recovery on that tragic day in March and now wish to raise much needed funds to these organisations.”

“We hope that we can raise awareness about suicide and remember Liam as the caring, genuine and honest man he was.”
