Donegal Priest Fr Eamonn Kelly has announced he’s going the whole hog with a charity shave this Saturday.
The Raphoe Parish Priest, who has not used a razor himself since 1992, was planning to shave his lengthy beard tomorrow for Mary’s Meals.
Due to the mammoth support of his challenge, he’s decided to go all in and shave his head too!
Fr Kelly will brave the shave on Saturday 7 October, and all are welcome to witness the event at the Diamond, Raphoe at 2pm.
The shave will be in aid of Marys Meals Ireland, an important charity of which Fr Kelly is a long-time volunteer and member of the board of directors. Marys Meals serves nutritious school meals to over 2.4million children living in some of the world’s poorest communities. It costs just €22 to feed a child for an entire school year.
From the moment Fr Kelly announced his fundraiser in September, the donations have been adding up quickly. He was so amazed to reach a sum that would feed 200 children a year, that he agreed to level up the shave to try and feed 200 more.
It is with a very grateful heart that Fr Kelly thanks each and every donor for making his “auld grey beard” such a transforming agent as more and more children will taste the gift of food in school.
