Burtonport Community Centre will host two exciting events this weekend for the Jamie’s Thank You fundraiser in celebration of a resilient local baby.
Jamie McBride, aged one, is the son of Helena Boyle from Burtonport and Pearse McBride from Fanad.
Little Jamie was born with Pierre Robin Syndrome, a rare condition that affects his lower jaw, causing difficulties in breathing and feeding.
Jamie spent the first 27 weeks of his life in Temple Street Hospital, where he received wonderful care. Jamie spent his first night at home in April 2023.
Helena and Pearse gained crucial support from five charities during Jamie’s weeks in hospital, so much so that they want to give back. They have organised two charity events this October to support the Children’s Health Foundation Temple Street, Donegal Cancer Flights & Services, Bumbleance, Blood Bikes Northwest and Little Blue Heroes.
Firstly, on Saturday 14th October they are having a Mammies Market at Burtonport Community Centre. Doors open at 11am and admission is only €2.
There will be a fantastic selection of second-hand toys, clothes and equipment for little ones, all in excellent quality. From Bce pool & table tennis table to Kids Kraft country mansion dolls house, Our generation, Lol surprise, Disney, ride-on cars, Huffy green machine, baby changing tables, highchairs, prams, feeding accessories and much more.
The Mammies Market will also have brand new items with tags and great condition second-hand clothes and shoes at unbeatable prices.

On Sunday 15th October, from 2-5pm, a delightful vintage tea party will take place. This event promises to be a fun-filled afternoon featuring tea, treats and entertainment.
The vintage tea party is a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends and family. Plus, there will be lots of prizes to be won throughout the afternoon.
Helena and Pearse would like to invite everyone to call into the events and support five worthwhile charities.
