Health and community workers have called off a strike that was due to start this morning.
Some 5,000 health and social services at 17 voluntary organisations, including the Irish Wheelchair Association, were due to go on indefinite strike in a bid to secure higher pay.
A breakthrough was made in negotiations at the Workplace Relations Commission late last night.
A set of proposals was brokered during talks, resulting in the proposed industrial action being suspended to allow members the opportunity to consider measures including pay increases backdated to April 2023 and commitments to address the funding issues in the sector.
