Police in Strabane are investigating a report of a suspicious approach to a child last week.

Last Friday morning, a man in a black vehicle stopped near a child walking on Beechmount Avenue and offered the boy a lift.

The boy refused the offer and the man drove off towards the junction of Beechmount Avenue and Melmount Road, headed towards Strabane town centre. The vehicle has been described as an SUV.

The PSNI have requested anyone who may have seen the vehicle around 8.20am, the time of the incident or afterwards, or anyone who has any information to come forward. They have also asked anyone with a dashcam to review their footage and report any sightings of the vehicle.

If you have any information that could help the investigation, you can contact the police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 1266 of 23/07/23.
