A progress update on works being done to upgrade the sewage systems in Buncrana as well as Ballyfofey and Stranorlar has been issued.
Works on both projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2024 according to, with the total funding for both projects reaching €31 million.
The works will address the risk of sewer flooding, and also address sewer overflows that were happening into Lough Swilly and the River Finn. They will also increase the capacity of the sewage networks in both areas allowing for further population growth in the future to support social and economic growth in the region.
