Sligo e-scooter rider killed after collision with van

A rider of an e-scooter was killed following a collision with a van in Sligo last night.

Gardaí say the incident occurred in Riverstown at approximately 8.10pm in the townland of Rusheen, Riverstown.

A male (aged in his 50s), who was travelling on an e-scooter, was fatally injured when he was struck by a van. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male driver of the van (aged in his 30s) received minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment at Sligo University Hospital.

The L1303 road is currently closed in Rusheen pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.
