A community rally in support of the Palestinian people of Gaza has been planned in Letterkenny this Saturday.

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is promoting the rally, which will begin at 1pm at An Grianan Plaza on the Port Road.

There will be guest speakers calling for freedom for Palestine, the expulsion of the Israeli Ambassador and protection for the Palestinian people of Gaza from a campaign of ethnic cleansing.

Organisers said: “We need to tell our leaders that we won’t be silent in the face of Israeli war crimes, illegal collective punishment, and threats of mass ethnic cleansing. We need to tell Apartheid Israel that we will escalate the international campaign for justice in Palestine.”

The death toll in Gaza yesterday rose to 6,547 since the start of Israel’s retaliation for Hamas’ attacks on 7 October.  According to UN, reporting from Gaza’s de facto authorities, some 1,600 people including 900 children have been reported missing and may be under the rubble.
