Donegal Gardaí say that a total of ten drivers were detected with either alcohol or drugs in their system while behind the wheel over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Five drivers were arrested for drink driving, and a further five drivers were arrested for drug driving offences.
Gardaí say they continue to urge all road users, regardless of whether it is a Bank Holiday weekend or not, to take care on the roads and never to take unnecessary risks.
They have also issued reminders yet again for road users to wear a seatbelt, slow down, not use or hold a mobile phone while driving, and never drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, after a year that has seen a sharp rise in road deaths in Ireland.
