Donegal actor Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic was crowned as the ‘Réalta Óg na Bliana’ in the Ghradam Cumarsáide an Oireachtais this week.

Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic from Gaoth Dobhair is a rising star in Irish language media through his acting in Ros na Rún and his presenting on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.

Colm’s profile is growing across the Irish language community, the Gaeltacht regions and not just in Donegal.

He’s now in his second season with the hugely popular TG4 soap Ros na Rún which is now in its 28th season and is the largest artistic production outside of Dublin and the only rural based TV drama on Irish TV.

Sponsored by XL Ireland, Ros na Rún is a huge part of Irish TV drama sector.

Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic is a member of Ros na Rún’s Daly family and he plays the part of Mánus Ó Direáin alongside renowned Donegal Gaeltacht Actors Niall Mac Earmharcaigh – John Joe Daly his on-screen father and Gavin O Fearraigh plays his onscreen brother Conall. Ros na Rún has always featured a strong Donegal community of actors. There’s also Máire Uí Rabhartaigh from Donegal who plays Nóirín Daly, John Joe’s ex wife.

Along with his growing role on TG4’s Ros na Rún, Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic has made a strong contribution to the Irish language and gaeltacht community from a young age and has had parallel success with the Irish Language broadcaster, Raidio na Gaeltachta’s newsroom.

The Oireachtas na Gaeilge presentations took place as part of Oireachtas na Samhna in the INEC, Killarney, Co Kerry, on Wednesday, 1 November 2023.
