Long-awaited lighting welcomed at busy Glenswilly junction

New lights have been welcomed as an extra safety measure at the Barrack Crossroads in Glenswilly.

The junction has seen several accidents in recent years, including occasions where vehicles have crashed into the gardens of nearby homes.

The lights, erected this week, have been welcomed by Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly, who raised residents’ concerns with Donegal County Council.

He said: “The people of Glenswilly have been calling out for these lights and indeed safety measures to be put in place at this busy junction for a long number of years now and I’m delighted that the first steps have now been taken.

“I want to thank DCC for taking my concerns on board here and having these lights erected for all the residents and road users in the area and beyond,” Cllr Kelly said.

“This is definitely a step in the right direction to addressing some of the safety concerns here as it lights up this junction for all to see.

“I also want to thank Airtricity and the ESB for erecting two new LED lights along the cottages as well for the local residents.”
