Bus Eireann says it is conducting a full investigation after a school bus went on fire while children were onboard.
Dozens of secondary school pupils had to evacuate a school bus in Cranford when it caught fire on Monday afternoon. In Cranford, a driver behind the school bus noticed a small fire at the rear of the bus and signalled the driver to pull in. All students got off safely before the blaze spread to a number of areas of the bus and considerable damage was caused to the vehicle.
The bus was hired out to Bus Eireann from a local company servicing Milford schools.
Bus Eireann has today confirmed that it is looking into the incident.
“No injuries were reported at the time and Bus Eireann continues to liaise with the school directly,” a spokesperson said.
“Bus Éireann is conducting a full investigation into the incident.”
