Wild Atlantic Way makes world ‘Cool List’ for 2024

Donegal has gained yet another exciting tourism boost as National Geographic Traveller (UK) reveals the ‘Cool List 2024’.

The Wild Atlantic Way is officially one of the 30 most exciting destinations in the world to visit in 2024!

All places on the list were chosen by National Geographic Traveller (UK) as a prediction that they will be making headlines in the year ahead.

The authors picked out the “edge-of-the-world lighthouse at Fanad Head” as one of the highlights on the 1,600 mile Wild Atlantic Way route. Next year marks 10 years since the launch of the Wild Atlantic Way, which grew into a major success story for Fáilte Ireland.

As well as west coast adventures, the Cool List has a separate ranking for Belfast ahead of its year of culture.

Donegal famously topped the National Geographic Traveller Cool List on its own in 2017, leading to campaigns boasting that the county was the ‘Coolest Place on the Planet’.

And the county is on a wave of success again after being named one of the best regions in the world to visit in 2024, thanks to Lonely Planet.
