The government is being urged to fund the completion of the storm wall at Tory Island.
The wall, which was started years ago, lies unfinished after funding dried up.
Cllr Michael McClafferty said that residents are living in fear of their houses being taken by the sea.
“It is imperative that the cap on the wall needs to be finished to save houses, if that is not done, houses will possibly get washed away,” he said.
Cllr McClafferty is campaigning for the sea wall to be continued for a half a mile around the coast to prevent further erosion. He added that the wall, without a cap, is a serious health and safety hazard as people can fall a considerable drop.
“With the government’s help, we need to get more money to Tory Island to get the sea wall finished to keep things safe for the islanders here,” he said.
“Houses will, in time, with climate change and everything else, will be washed away and it’s too late then.”
