Gardaí have urged members of the public to refrain from sharing footage of a crash at last weekend’s Donegal Harvest Rally in which two people were seriously injured.
Two spectators were rushed to hospital after they were struck by a car during stage 3 of the race at Magheramenagh Junction near Dunfanaghy on Saturday. A man in his 60s and another man in his 40s were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be serious but non-life threatening.
Garda Claire Rafferty confirmed that footage of the incident has been cirulated on social media and has urged those responsible to remove the videos out of respect for the injured and their families.
“Footage of the crash from the Harvest Rally is being shared online and some of the injured are still in hospital,” she said.
“We would urge people to think of the victims of the crash and their families and refrain from sharing such videos on social media.”
