Could a Donegal person be Monaghan’s newest Lotto millionaire?

Time is running out for a lucky punter who bought an unclaimed million-euro-winning ticket in Monaghan.

The Lotto Plus Raffle ticket, worth a life-changing €1,000,500, was bought at Williams & Moran Centra on the Main Street in Emyvale on Thursday 17th August. However, the mystery player has just over 24 hours left to claim the jackpot.

The town is a popular pit stop for Donegal travellers en route to Dublin, so there is a chance that the winner could be from outside Monaghan.

The National Lottery is appealing to Lotto players to check their tickets before tomorrow’s deadline.

The life-changing amount was won in the Lotto Plus Raffle which typically sees between 60 and 120 winners of €500 in every draw but in that particular draw, one player enjoyed an even higher windfall due to a special Raffle event.

Each of the tickets with the winning Lotto Plus Raffle number drawn in the Saturday 19th August draw were entered into a once-off random draw where one ticket was selected to win an additional prize of €1 million. While every ticket holder who had the winning Raffle number won €500, one player won €1 million, in addition to the usual €500 prize.

The winning Raffle number for the 19th August draw was: 3249

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “With just one day to go until the claim deadline for the special €1,000,500 Lotto Plus Raffle prize, we are urging Lotto players all over Ireland who may have purchased a Quick Pick ticket at the Centra store on the Main Street in Emyvale for the 19th August draw to immediately check their old tickets. There is a player out there who has a ticket worth over €1 million which they are yet to come forward to claim.”

“The winning ticket was purchased two days before the draw on Thursday 17th August so we are encouraging players to think back to any journeys they may have had through the Monaghan town towards the end of the summer. The winner really could be anywhere as the shop is located on the main road that connects the North and South of the country so it could have been someone travelling through or maybe even a local to the area.”

The ticket holder is advised to sign the back of their ticket and make contact with the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie as soon as possible and arrangements will be made for them to collect their life-changing prize at Lotto HQ.
