Gardaí have issued another warning this week in relation to the latest text message that purports to be from ‘eFlow’.
Garda Sean Sweeney of Buncrana Garda Station said his colleagues spoke last week about scams.
“However, there are so many types of scams that we wish to issue a similar type of warning this week,” Garda Sweeney said.
“Unfortunately, a number of people have recently fallen victim to the ‘eFlow’ scam text message. In recent times, scammers have targeted people with fraudulent text messages claiming to be from eFlow. These smishing attempts typically send an urgent message urging recipients to click on a link, which can lead to the extraction of personal financial information and theft.”
A spokesperson for eFlow, meanwhile, has issued the following advice.
“eFlow does not send links in text messages. If you receive one, delete immediately,” the spokesperson stressed.
“If you received a text claiming to be from eFlow with a link, do not click it, report to scam@netcraft.com and delete the message. If you clicked on a suspicious link, please contact your bank immediately.”
Always be cautious of unsolicited text messages. To be on the safe side never click on a link contained in a text message. Stay safe and think before you click!
