Five people, including three children, have been injured in a stabbing near a Dublin city school this afternoon.
The attack occurred on Parnell Square East at around 1.30pm.
It’s reported that a man, wielding a large knife, set upon the woman and then the children as they were leaving the local gaelscoil.
Members of the public rushed to stop the attack.
A young girl, which witnesses say is around six years of age, has been seriously injured and two other children are being treated for less serious injuries.
An adult woman is also being treated for serious injuries.
The suspect is now been treated in hospital, where gardaí are waiting to speak to him.
Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry and are not looking for any other person at this time.
