Normally one wouldn’t connect the idyllic French island of Corsica with the ruggest west coast of Donegal – but a new French documentary certainly will!

A documentary crew following a group of actors from Corsica has been following them in the small town in recent days.

The group every year performs their French language adaptation of the Brian Friel play Dancing at Lughnasa in their village – but this year have been invited to the emerald isle for a very special edition.

On social media, Margaret Rose Cunningham, the Manager at the Glencolmcille Folk Centre said it was a “lovely” experience:

“I cannot say how lovely it was to work with this production from location, props, catering to enjoying the best of new friends company, all the best to you all, I am hugely grateful to the person who advised them to use the Folk Village, Father Mc Dyer would be so proud, his greatest passion was amateur dramatics in the small rural area of Glencolmcille, I can only say we got on like a house on fire with the Corsicans, we were so similar in our ways.”

It’s believed the documentary will be releasing in France next year.
