The town of Raphoe is gearing up for its annual ‘light the lights’ switch on this Saturday December 2nd.

Starting at 5pm outside the Volt House in The Diamond, the festivities will kick off with Christy Murray and his talented tin whistle team, followed by the Finn Valley Mens Choir. Just before the countdown at 6pm, Junior Eurovision star Jessica Mc Kean will take to the stage to entertain the crowds.

This year’s event will hold special meaning, as the lights will be switched on by Patrick and Michael Mc Elhinney in memory of their beloved mother, Eileen R.I.P.

After the switch on, Santa Claus himself will make an appearance, led around the Diamond by the Raphoe Pipe Band. He will then stop off in his grotto in the Suile Centre, where visitors can take pictures, enjoy treats and refreshments, and take in even more entertainment.

Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the festivities, and enjoy the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
