Representatives from the Donegal branch of the IFA met with Sinn Fein MEP Chris MacManus this week to discuss the main issues facing farmers in the North West.
The meeting made up part of the Midlands North-West MEP’s visits to rural farming representatives, with a week-long engagement with farmers in the region.
Speaking following the engagement with the Donegal IFA, MacManus said, “Today’s meeting was useful. We covered a number of topics relevant to Donegal farmers including Beef and Lamb prices as well as concerns around processing. My sincere thanks goes to both Joe and Tom for taking time out to meet with me. These direct engagements with regional representatives are vital in informing how I do my job in Brussels.”
“As a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development in the European Parliament, I will always do my utmost to represent farmers in rural Ireland to the best of my abilities. In Sinn Féin we believe that the family farm model is the beating heart of our rural communities. We want to stand up for those farmers.”
