An alleged row over goats has resulted in three people appearing before Buncrana District Court.

One of the men, a Liam Lynch, been charged in connection with an animal welfare incident involving a goat.

Lynch has been charged with picking a goat off the ground and slamming it on the ground using force.

The charge relates to an alleged incident at Druminderry Ballymagan, Buncrana on January 15, 2021.

The case of Lynch, a 59-year-old man of Druminderry Ballymagan, Buncrana, who is represented by McIntyre O’Brien Solicitors, was before Buncrana District Court this week.

Three persons are charged in relation to related alleged incidents.

Olive Lynch, a 63-year-old of Druminderry Ballymagan, Buncrana is charged with assaulting a Paul Rogers at Druminderry Ballymagan, Buncrana on January 15, 2021.

Paul Rogers, a 59-year-old with the same address is charged with assaulting Olive Lynch at the same location on the same date.

The case is contested on all sides and solicitor for Rogers, Mr Frank Dorrian, said he expected the case to last roughly an hour or longer.

Mr Dorrian referred to the case and said it was an issue of people arguing over goats.

The court suggested the case could be put back until September 12, 2024.

“Peace should well have been established by then,” said Mr Dorrian.

It is understood that all charges will be contested.
