Met Éireann has announced an extension of its cold weather warning into Monday as temperatures show no sign of picking up, at least in the short term.
The low weather and ice warning is now set to last until at least Monday morning, with the national forecaster warning of the continued presence of frost and fog, with icy conditions also expected nationwide.
The current Met Éireann forecast for Monday in the North West sees temperatures reaching between 2 and 6 degrees during the day, with wintry showers expected. Temperatures are expected to sharply dip to as low as -4 on Monday night.
The cold spell is currently expected to last until around the middle of next week.
