National: Shane MacGowan’s funeral to take place next Friday

The funeral of iconic Pogues frontman Shane McGowan is to take place on Friday of next week.

His funeral mass is being held in Nenagh, County Tipperary, with his remains to be cremated following the ceremony.

He passed away following a long illness on Thursday.

The funeral will be open to the public, with large crowds expected to pay one last tribute to the iconic singer and songwriter, who is sure to live on in the hearts, minds, memories and ears of fans worldwide.
