If you’re looking for Christmas lights with a difference then Letterkenny is the place to be this Sunday night.

Because back by popular demand for its third year is the Light Up Letterkenny project.

The gathering sees dozens of tractors, vans, trucks, classic cars, rally cars and motorbikes don their festive lights and parade around the town.

Organised by CBM Signs, the event is getting bigger and better and with each year there is more and more kinds of vehicles taking part.

Bernard Gallagher From CBM Signs explains what is planned for the evening starting at 5pm.

He said “The first year in 2021 during lockdown it was a great project to lift everyone during the COVID Lockdown. It was also a great excuse for Craig Alcorn to get his Fire Truck out for a spin. The first year saw 90 Tractors & 20 cars. Then last year the event grew to about 100 tractors, 30 lorries, 30 cars & a few bikes as well all dressed up in Christmas Lights.”

This year’s route is the same leaving CBM Signs on the Port Road, passing Tobin’s Garage and going up the Port Road, down the Main Street, heading out the Paddy Harte Road across the Polestar Roundabout in front of the Mount Errigal Hotel then up The Business Park Road to the Half Way Halt at Pine Hill Industrial Estate. There will be a short regroup here and the parade will go back down past the hospital and back to CBM Signs. There will be plenty of safe places for everyone to enjoy the parade.

“This year after learning of all the good work the Blood Bikes North West do across the county we had to include them in this years event,” added Bernard.

He thanked a number of people for their help including the Gardai, Alcorn Garden Centre, The Boal Family, Anne-Marie Bonnar and anybody else who supports and helps out on the day.

See you all on Sunday night to Light Up Letterkenny!
