The Donegal County Library Service has announced their Family Time at Your Library Programme.

The programme, which runs throughout the month of December, promises to deliver a range of exciting and engaging activities aimed at connecting families with the enjoyment of reading and sharing stories.

Family Time at Your Library events are designed to support a family-focused approach to reading with children as part of the national Right to Read Programme.

So, what do we have in store for you?

We have a programme packed full of fun and exciting activities for families to enjoy in all our libraries over the festive season. These include Storytime sessions, Rhyme Time, Arts and Crafts, Music and Dance and Lego challenges. The staff in branches across Donegal have been busy putting together a mix of events for their patrons.

Storytelling and reading with children help strengthen language and literacy skills and is also important for emotional development, supporting family bonds and of course, helps to inspire the imagination.

We have some wonderful Christmas Crafting Sessions in store for the family to enjoy this December. Why not create some magical memories with your children and take home some festive keepsakes made with love, creativity, and uniqueness.

Santa and Mrs Claus will also be making appearances in some libraries over the next month, making sure to be back in the North Pole before Christmas Eve. There are also events for our Ukrainian residents and numerous Irish Language events scheduled. Suzanne Ní Ghallachoir will be hosting an online Irish language Storytelling event for all children to enjoy, wherever they may be.

In Central Library, Letterkenny, Líonra Leitir Ceanainn presents Daidi na Nollag in Story Sack format. Not only is this great fun, but literacy based and a charming activity for the family to enjoy together.

All events are free of charge.

For further details and to view our full programme of events in your local library and across the county, please visit the ‘What’s On’ page on our website www.donegallibrary.ie , or follow Donegal Library Service on Facebook and Twitter.
