Motorists have been warned that there are major traffic delays in and around Letterkenny this afternoon.
Local reports say traffic has built up in and around the Polestar Roundabout and back out the dual carriageway into the town.
There are no reports of any traffic incidents which may have led to the serious congestion.
It is thought that poor weather and Christmas shopping has led to the congestion.
