The battle for eyeballs in the war between streaming services may see a new contender if the people of Donegal have anything to say about it.
Donegal County Council has now established a 24/7 livestream showing the much-maligned Polestar Roundabout in Letterkenny, and its new traffic light system which has drawn criticism from many motorists who say it has only made the town’s traffic chaos even worse.
On social media, the Council said that the new cameras would allow motorists to “check the current traffic conditions” – but one might question the efficacy of such a system.
It could be argued that the only time a motorist could somewhat safely check these cameras to see what the traffic conditions are like, is when they’re stuck in the same traffic jam shown on the stream on a Monday morning.
Regardless, look out Netflix and Amazon Prime – you might just have competition from angry Letterkenny motorists, or just people sat at home happy they’re not the ones stuck at the lights.
