Have you heard the news? Glenties is having its first ever Pantomime!

Oh no it isn’t! Oh yes it is !

The talented pupils of Glenties Comprehensive School and seasoned members of Glenties Musical Theatre together present the pantomime Treasure Island in the School Gym at 8 o’clock on the 20th, 21st, 22nd December with a final performance at 5’clock on Saturday 23rd.

Tickets are available from the school by phone 074 9551172 or email admin@glentiescomp.com

Tickets also available from Divers Centra in Ardara and The Co-op in Glenties.

Various shady looking pirates have been spotted in the town muttering about Maps and “x Marks the Spot”… so Book early for a wonderful journey on the good ship Hispaniola full of fun, laughter, great dancing, singing and wonderful music .

On stage you will meet the dreaded evil Captain Flint who was betrayed by Long John Silver against whom he has sworn eternal vengeance. Various bands of marauding pirates may look scary but are soft as putty beneath their eye patches.

We meet the ill-starred lovers, Jenny the Squire’s daughter who falls madly in love with penniless Jim the poor inn keeper’ son, but her father is determined that she will never marry him. A second couple for whom love does not run smoothly are Willie and Millie, both fancy each other but Millie is afraid to show her true feelings and their future looks grim. The only truly sensible people in the plot are the members of the Downtrodden Women’s Association who are interested in knitting and cake-making. But alas even these ladies fall for the lure of the adventure of treasure-seeking and become pirates!

Who will win the treasure? Will the young lovers end up together. Will Captain Flint reek his vengeance on Long John? What is the Black Spot and why is everyone so terrified of it?

Come along, join the merry throng and all will be revealed.

Shows run at Glenties Comprehensive School at 8 o’clock on the 20th, 21st, 22nd December with a final performance at 5’clock on Saturday 23rd.

Tickets are available from the school by phone 074 9551172 or email admin@glentiescomp.com
