Over €6,450 has been donated to the Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital following the hugely successful ‘Wakin’ Ted’ memorial concert.

The late Ted Ponsonby, a master musician, engineer, and producer, was recently honoured through a charity concert and storytelling night at the Clanree Hotel.

The event, affectionately titled ‘Wakin’ Ted’, brought together some of the best local bluegrass and trad rock artists. It was a night of mixed emotions, nostalgia, and craic remembering Ted’s incredible 60 year music career.

The Friends of LUH, who were the chosen charity for the event, received a cheque from the event organisers this week. Don Ponsonby, Paddy Casey, and Liam Bradley represented the organisers, while Jimmy Stafford and Paul McDevitt represented Highland Radio. Peter Cutliffe, Paddy Rooney, Allen McCrea, and Ivan Fuery represented the Friends of LUH. The Friends of LUH expressed their gratitude to the Ponsonby family, the organisers, Highland Radio, and the Clanree Hotel for hosting the event and for choosing them as the nominated charity.
