You better watch out… because Donegal has welcomed a very magical visitor.

Santa has touched down in Ireland to spread some enchantment in the countdown to Christmas.

He’s been popping up at schools, local businesses and charity events. He’s even calling to houses to visit good boys and girls in their homes!

Fear not, though, with more than 20 jingle bells on his clothing, you’re sure to hear him coming! His impeccable beard and magical ways have even the most sceptical people doing a double-take.

Santa has arrived to help everyone believe in the magic of Christmas, and the amazed reactions of children and adults show that he’s doing a great job.

With just ten days to go until Christmas, Santa has been busy preparing for the big night, assisted by his trusted head elf, Bobble, his loyal chauffeur Paddy and photographer Martin.

Keep your eyes peeled, Donegal, because you never know where you’ll spot him

Santa’s Christmas mission extends beyond Christmas Eve. He has expressed his intention to make the 2024 Christmas in Donegal even more special, promising even more events and enchanting experiences for all.

As he prepares for the big night, Santa extends a warm thank you to the Station House Hotel for their hospitality and for providing his favourite treat – cookies!

Donegal Daily sat down with the man of the moment:

What is your favourite part of Christmas?

Visiting children and bringing the magic to them. I love visiting families in their houses, because there are some very special children who cannot get out to see me.

How do you keep up with the demands of Christmas?

My elves and Mrs Claus – she’s the real boss!

What is the most important thing about Christmas?

Bringing the joy of Christmas to everyone. If you have magic and joy, you bring happiness out of everyone.

What advice would you give a child who is struggling to believe?

Come meet me and see for yourself!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Bruce Springsteen – Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Miracle on 34th Street, with Richard Attenborough

What is your favourite snack on Christmas eve?

Chocolate chip cookies and cold milk. Not warm milk, because it will put me to sleep.

What can all the boys and girls and adults do to make Christmas special for others?

Spread the joy. Joy is a present that you can give to everyone.

So, keep your eyes peeled because you never know where Santa might pop up next. Just don’t forget to embrace the festive spirit and spread joy to others.
