Buncrana Gardaí say they’ve arrested the driver of an articulated lorry that was caught speeding 35kph over the speed limit last night.
They say the driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after the “fully laden” lorry was detected doing 115kph in a zone with a 80kph speed limit.
Court proceedings against the driver will proceed in due course.
In a statement on social media, Buncrana Gardaí said that “we do not want any family to have an empty seat at their Christmas dinner table this year because of a reckless decision made on the roads. Don’t let the road safety message in one ear and out the other. Take it on board and save lives. SLOW DOWN.”
