The Ross Lake Hotel in Roscahill, Oughterard was set ablaze at approximately 11:35pm last night according to Gardaí, who said the incident is being investigated as a “criminal damage incident by fire”.
The fire was subsequently put out by the fire services, with the scene now being preserved for further analysis.
Far-right protesters had surrounded the privately-owned disused hotel earlier in the day on Saturday, planning to blockade the planned arrival of 70 international protection applicants.
