A west Donegal councillor has condemned the latest sheep kill in the area.

Cllr Michael  McClafferty said at least four animals were killed some time on Monday night or early yesterday by marauding dogs in the Baltoney area of Gortahork.

He said Gardaí are investigating the incident which has left ‘many other’ sheep highly traumatised and some have begun aborting lambs.

One of the sheep killed in Gortahork.

“People need to know where their dogs are at all times, no matter what,” Cllr McClafferty said.

“This family is at a loss to the tune of thousands of euros, plus all the stress this has put them under watching this horrendous situation unfold. All Farmers around feel for this family as we’re a tight knit community. When something awful happens up or down the road you feel it and our hearts go out to this particular family on the days of Christmas.”

Anyone with information should contact Milford Garda Station on 074 9153067 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
