Donegal Gardai have urged the public not to “suffer in silence” over any issue they are worried about this festive season.

Letterkenny-based Garda Sergeant Eunan Walsh said local Gardai are there to not only listen but to help people.

Speaking on the weekly Garda Crime Bulletin, Sgt Walsh said Christmas will be a time of joy for many.

But he stressed that it is also a challenging time for many others.

He said “Christmas is a happy time for the majority of us but for others it can be a challenging time because of grief, financial worries, domestic abuse, loneliness or for various other reasons.

“If anybody needs support over the festive season we urge them to reach out. Contact a support service or call us on any of our 24/7 numbers and we will offer a listening ear and/or put them in touch with a support service who will help.

“Please don’t suffer in silence.”
