When it comes to spending, a new survey shows that the Donegal public are the most canny in the country.

The figures are contained in the AIB Year in Review Spend Trend which has just been released.

It shows that people in Donegal spent the least amount of money in 2023 with the average spend being just €20.18 a day compared to the biggest spenders in Wicklow at €26.13.

The student also showed that Irish people are splashing the cash with an 8% jump in the overall spend compared with the previous year.

The information was gathered by AIB who analysed over 800 million card transactions carried out between January and November of 2023.

The survey digs deep into where our money goes every year, with the hospitality and beauty sectors some of the big winners in 2023.
