The contribution of Dr James McDaid to Donegal life is to be celebrated at a major event at the beginning of the New Year.
The night to celebrate the contributions of Dr McDaid to medicine, sport and politics will take place in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny, on Friday, January 19th.
It is expected to be attended by some of the biggest names in both political and sporting life.
Dr. McDaid retired as a doctor in June after serving the people of Letterkenny and Donegal for 50 years.
At the start of 2023, St Eunan’s GAA Club honoured Dr McDaid when naming the stand at O’Donnell Park after him.
His 21-year political career began in 1989 when he was elected as a TD for the Donegal North East constituency.
He was Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation from 1997 to 2002 and served as Minister of State for Transport from 2002 to 2004
His support for sports clubs, groups and organisations throughout Donegal was crucial in the delivery of their projects.
Tickets for the event, which includes at four-course dinner, are €40. Doors open at 7pm, with
dress code being smart casual.
