Donegal schools allocated more than €172K in STEM grants

Nineteen schools in Donegal have been allocated a total of €172,046 in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) grants.

Two post primary schools 17 primary schools from the county make up 531 nationwide that will share a total of €4.7 million. Donegal schools are set to receive grants ranging from €2,760 to €10,000.

The funding announcement, made by the Minister for Education, Norma Foley, was welcomed by Donegal minister, Charlie McConalogue.

“I am aware of the notable rise there has been for STEM grants in Donegal, and I am delighted to see that 19 of the county’s schools are to avail of this latest grant allocation of €4.7 which is a trebling of the allocation of €1.5 originally announced,” Minister McConalogue said.

“Science Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and the arts play a key role in helping students develop valuable skills that students can use in diverse sectors. The STEM grant scheme aims to empower schools to provide the high-quality STEM education required for all their students, and I wish all the Donegal schools who have been allocated funding well with their projects.”

 The 19 Donegal schools set to receive funding are:

Kilbarron N.S. – €9,110.00

Scoil Mhuire, Belcruit – €10,000.00

Comhscoil Chonmha SN – €9,997.83

Scoil Cholmcille Termon – €10,000.00

St. Davaddog’s N.S – €10,000.00

Scoil Naomh Colmcille – €10,000.00

Scoil Phádraig, Dobhar – €10,000.00

Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál – €10,000.00

Rathdonnell NS – €10,000.00

St Peter’s N.S – €10,000.00

Scoil Cholmcille Drumman – €9,980.00

St Patrick’s Boys School – €9,993.00

Donagh N.S. – €6,372.95

Scoil Naomh Bríd – €2,760.00

Scoil Mhuire – €9,780.00

Holy Family National School – €4,000.00

Scoil Chróine – €9,964.00

Crana College – €10,000.00

Abbey Vocational School – €10,000.00
