On the final National Slow Down Day of 2023, Gardaí in Donegal nabbed a driver who was a shocking 45 kp/h over the speed limit.

Gardaí from the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit say they caught a driver in the St Johnston area yesterday doing 125 kp/h in an 80 kp/h zone – one of the highest speed limit breaks during the slow down day.

The driver was given a fixed charge penalty notice for the offence.

Gardaí in Donegal have urged the public to “save lives this Christmas by slowing down”, as a deadly year on the nation’s roads comes to a close.
