The chilly water didn’t stop brave souls from taking the plunge at Port Mór yesterday – all for a great cause.
The annual Malin Head community sea swim was a great success, with over €2,600 raised so far for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The fun family event brought a large crowd to the pier to cheer on the dippers. For many, it’s the highlight of their Christmas calendar!
Hot cuppas and hot whiskeys, courtesy of Kilbeggan Whiskey, were provided to help everyone warm up afterwards.
The winner of the dry robe sponsored by Coucon was Donna Cummings who raised €1,000 because she knows how fantastic the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is. A VicoRobe changing robe was won by Miss Monagle.

Donna Cummings was the winner of the Dry-robe from Coucon getting presented with the robe by Kay Ward. Both ladies have spent time in the Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland and know how fantastic a place it is.
The money raised will go a long way in supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities, which has provided essential services to families in the local community. Last night, 20 families stayed at Ronald McDonald House as their children availed of hospital care over Christmas.
“Thanks to all who helped, who swam, who sponsored and who just turned up to make this a fantastic annual event,” said a spokesperson for Malin Head Community.
It’s not too late to donate either, and you can congratulate the swimmers here: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/MalinHeadCommunityAssociationLtd
