Gardaí in Galway have carried out searches after a suspected arson at accommodation earmarked for refugees in the county last month.
Searches were carried out at four properties in the Oughterard area as Gardaí are continuing their investigations into the arson attack at the disused Ross Lake House Hotel that happened in December, just hours after far-right protesters had surrounded the site.
The disused hotel had been earmarked to accommodate 70 asylum seekers.
In a statement, Gardaí said that they recovered “a number of exhibits” as part of the searches, which will be “subject to analysis which will determine the next stages of the investigation.”
They also said that they had carried out 229 investigative tasks in relation to the fire, with 145 statements also being taken by investigating Gardaí.
