Former Finn Harps star Shane McMonagle has re-signed for the 2024 season.

The defender first joined the club at the beginning of the 2023 campaign, making 15 appearances before moving to neighbouring Dergview FC during the Summer.

The 23 year-old made 16 appearances for the NIFL Championship side before returning to Finn Park this week.

McMonagle is the 20th player to be confirmed by the club ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Harps Assistant Coach and Academy Director Kevin McHugh said ““We are delighted to get Shane back to the club, he did really well in his first spell with us and has gained valuable experience with Dergview over the past few months, getting to play regular first team football at senior level.

“He is a natural footballer and comes from a great footballing family and will no doubt knuckle down now and compete for his place over the coming weeks and months.”

Harps take on Derry City in their first home preseason game in 11 years this Sunday. Kick-off at Finn Park is 2pm.
