Seamus Coleman set to break Everton appearance record this weekend

Donegal footballing legend Seamus Coleman looks set to break a monumental record for Everton this weekend.

The side’s club captain is currently tied with Tim Howard on 354 Premier League appearances for The Toffies.

Everton are set to take on Aston Villa tomorrow afternoon at Goodison Park, and the Killybegs man will break the record if he takes to the pitch.

Coleman has put together a phenomenal career for club and country, also lining out for the Republic of Ireland 68 times in his illustrious career.

The record-breaking mark for Everton was not always guaranteed, especially after a horrific injury Coleman suffered in an international against Wales in 2017 that left him with a fractured tibia and fibula, leaving him on the sidelines for nine months, with doubts if he could ever become the player he once was.

On the contrary, Seamus has continued to produce for another half a decade as one of the most widely-respected full backs in the Premier League.

Coleman has suffered from some nagging injuries this season, but did appear for his first full 90 minutes of the season in Everton’s FA Cup clash against Crystal Palace last week.

With an appearance on Sunday, and still plenty of games upcoming this season, Seamus Coleman has a chance to set a once unlikely club record that may stay for some time.
