The Status Red weather alert for Donegal is now kicking in as Storm Isha begins to pass over Donegal.

There are gale-force winds and people have been advised to take extreme care if they have to go out.

Earlier today, Garda Inspector Seamus McGonigle told Donegal Daily that people should only take essential journeys.

Many shops across the county have taken the decision to close early to allow staff to go home safely.

Donegal County Council have their emergency crews on standby while hundreds of sandbags have also been deployed to many areas.
