Some customers may not have power restored until Wednesday

The ESB has warned that full restoration of power may not take place until Wednesday in some parts of Donegal.

Crews have been fighting to restore electricity to thousands of homes and businesses across the county since Storm Isha hit last night.

The impending arrival of Storm Jocelyn tomorrow night is expected to hamper their efforts further. The Status Orange warning  comes into effect from 6pm on Tuesday evening and will last until 2am on Wednesday.

Cllr Jack Murray said he has been made aware that the ESB has updated its estimated restoration time in some areas of Inishowen to tomorrow afternoon. However, customers in other areas have been told they may not get switched back on until Wednesday, at the earliest.

“Obviously, this will be a massive inconvenience for many people but I understand crews are doing everything they can to get service back asap,” Thanks again to those doing their bit in very difficult conditions,” Cllr Murray said.

The ESB is urging people to keep away from fallen or low hanging wires. Call their Emergency Number 1800 372 999 to report any issues.
