Tributes have been paid to well known businessman Michael Boyd after his passing.

Originally from Sligo, Michael was a notable figurehead in the North-West business community, as the founder and Managing Director of Boyd HR.

He was also actively involved in the Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce, including a stint as its president in 1999 and 2000.

The Chamber paid tribute to him on social media today, saying:

“We, the Letterkenny Chamber Council, and staff, past and present, were very saddened to hear about the untimely death of our esteemed member and Past President Michael Boyd.”

“Michael was closely involved with the Chamber over many years and served as President in 1999/2000. A proud Sligo man, he was committed to the development of Letterkenny and the North West and was always available with advice and guidance, not just to the Chamber, but to so many of our members and the wider business community.”

“Michael built a business with a great reputation based on dignity and trust and was always the calming voice when advice was needed. Over the years he gave so generously of his time and expertise to the Chamber and to so many others who held him in high regard.”

“We offer our heartfelt sympathy to his wife June, children, Siofra, Darragh, Aiobhinn and Cian, the wider family circle and close friends.”

Funeral details for Michael are as follows:

His remains are reposing at his late residence (Ballyraine, Letterkenny) today Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th February with wake from 2pm to 8pm.

Private family burial on Monday.
