Donegal company Kelsius is to create 30 new jobs at its Falcarragh base.

The company, which currently employs 92 people, is to expand thanks to a €5M investment.

The company was founded in 2002 and has developed wireless temperature monitoring and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems, which are exported to 47 countries from its base in Falcarragh.

The investment will facilitate Kelsius’ product roadmap which includes new sensor products coming to market in early 2025 and other planned software product developments.

The company has already applied to Donegal County Council for planning permission to build the expanded facility and has targeted to complete construction on the project by early 2026.

Chairman of the company, Eamon Quinn, said the €5 million investment is a “pivotal moment” for the business.

Karl Simmons, chief executive of Kelsius, told the Business Post that the expanded facility is required to allow the company to respond to a significant increase in demand for its products.

“I’m delighted that this expansion will allow us to build on this demand as we continue to provide our excellent service to existing customers, and to welcome new clients in Ireland and globally,” he said.

The expansion is expected to create 30 new jobs over the next four years at the company, including manufacturing, research and development, engineer, customer support and sales roles.

Last year, Kelsius announced that it has signed a contract with Tesco Ireland to provide wireless temperature monitoring systems across 112 of the company’s stores.
